Pastoral Message from Monsignor Kaufman

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Today is Father Taglianetti's last Sunday at St. Pius X. Father will celebrate the 7:30am and 11:30am Masses today. Following the 11:30am Mass, there will be a gathering in the basement of our Church (Fr. Dowd Center) to greet Father and thank him. Father was the parochial vicar from 2020-2022 and the past four years he has been a resident priest, while ministering as chaplain to Cardinal O'Hara High School. We thank Father, and wish him well as he goes to the Cathedral Basilica of Ss. Peter and Paul as parochial vicar.

This past Wednesday evening saw a wonderful gathering for Holy Mass to celebrate the graduation of our 8th grade students from our parish grade school. We congratulate the graduates and their families.

Earlier this week, you may have seen or heard news reports about threats posted on social media mentioning St. Pius X. We thank the Marple Township Police Department for making us aware of these concerning posts, and for their prompt response. I am grateful for their presence here, and for the way they have communicated with me and have made themselves available to assist us. I ask that you join me in praying for the health and safety of all involved in this situation, and for peace and healing in our community.

A few years ago, a wonderful film called Cabrini was released in theaters. That movie told the story of St. Frances Cabrini who carried the love of Christ into the streets to serve those most in need. As the first American Saint, St. Frances Cabrini is being honored as the Patroness of this summer's National Eucharistic Pilgrimage currently taking place to coincide with the 250th anniversary of our country. To prepare for the Eucharistic Pilgrimage's arrival in Philadelphia, there are a number of free screenings of the movie being planned, including this coming Tuesday, June 16, at 7:00pm at the AMC Marple 10 Theater in Springfield. While the tickets are free, no walk-ins are allowed. Visit cabrinifilm.org to RSVP, and to see other dates and times.

Happy June!
Monsignor Kaufman
