The Scripture readings today call us to pay attention to how God is working in our lives. In the First Reading from Exodus, we hear the promise of God to Moses and his people that they would constitute a holy nation, a nation of priests. For the first Christians, this promise was fulfilled in Jesus and in the twelve Apostles that He gathered around Him. Peter, James, John, Thomas and their companions, even with their faults, became the center of the renewed Israel and the developing Church. We have the same purpose: to bring humanity into friendship with God. Catholics are often not comfortable with the idea of evangelization. We don't to go knocking on a stranger's door to tell them about Jesus, although at times this very well might be the case. Look to recognize the everyday chances that come our way to evangelize. We do this when we lend a helping hand and we witness to how we have been helped through the power of God. We do this when we share a prayerful moment together with someone who asks us to pray for them. We can extend an invitation to someone to join in coming to Mass or a time of prayer or adoration. It is important to keep in mind that in order to spread the light of Christ to others, we must first embrace that light in our own lives. Consider how and with whom you can share the Good News of your faith in God with this week.
