Rev. Joseph DosSantosParochial Vicar · St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church
Pastoral Message: Corpus Christi
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.
John 6:56
We give Jesus the worship that belongs only to Him
Today is the feast of the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ; it is Corpus Christi day. This day is practically the first after the Easter festivities, after Eastertide. It reminds us of Holy Thursday, when the Lord, at the Last Supper, took the bread in His hands and said: "This is my Body"; He took the chalice in the same way and said: "This is my Blood."
Today, after Holy Week and the Easter festivities have passed, we are giving great value and exaltation to that marvelous gift that the Lord gave us, His Body and His Blood, the eternal memorial of our salvation.
In celebrating the Eucharist, we are saying: "Thank you, Lord, for Your presence in the Blessed Sacrament of the altar, thank you for Your Body, thank you for Your Blood which is strength and salvation for our souls."
Let us acknowledge the value of this sacred mystery of the real presence of Jesus in the consecrated host and the consecrated wine. Glory and praise be given, at all times, to the Most Holy and Divine Sacrament.
May the Eucharistic Jesus be loved, glorified, and exalted throughout the world, but above all, in our hearts and in our lives, may we give Jesus the worship and adoration that belongs only to Him.
